Paavo Tynell Ceiling Lamp in Reed, Brass, & Glass Model K3-262, Idman 1950s

5760,00

A lively and elegant pendant lamp designed by Paavo Tynell, featuring a softly shaped opaline glass diffuser paired with a delicate reed shade and refined brass details and canopy. The composition feels light and airy, with a distinctly summery character that evokes a subtle Mediterranean sensibility — warm, relaxed, and effortlessly inviting.

Despite its expressive presence, the lamp remains relatively compact, making it easy to integrate into a wide range of interiors. It works particularly well in organic, coastal, and modern eclectic settings, where its natural materials and gentle glow can truly shine. The hanging height can be easily adjusted by altering the length of the electrical cord, allowing for flexible placement above dining tables, in bedrooms, or in intimate seating areas.

The shade was reupholstered on the original frame. The lamp is stamped Idman.

Paavo Tynell, often referred to as the man who illuminated Finland, began his career as a sheet metal craftsman before co-founding Taito Oy in 1918. While some of his postwar designs were initially met with hesitation in Finland, they were enthusiastically embraced in the United States, where his refined use of brass and organic forms resonated strongly. Today, Tynell’s most important works are highly sought after and command significant prices at international auctions, with examples held in major institutions including the Finnish Parliament House. His work continues to stand as a benchmark of Scandinavian lighting design, balancing craftsmanship, warmth, and quiet elegance.
