A modernist Werner West arm chair featuring a dark stained birch frame with bent veneer back and bent wooden armrests. Upholstered with white wool fabric giving a wonderful contrast with the dark wood. The chair was manufactured by Wilh. Schauman in the 1930s. A beautiful display of functional design that has lasted for almost a century. A testament to Finnish craftsmanship, early functionalism and simplicity in design. The chair is easy to move around and intigrate into different interiors. Perfect as a reading or corner chair, or just as a statement in an entrance or any other room.

Werner West (1890-1959) was a Finnish designer who was said to have created the foundation for Finnish industrial furniture design. In his time, he was the instructor and mentor of many young Finnish designers. West also participated in the founding of the Union of Finnish Decorative Artists Ornamo in 1911. His designs can be found in numerous interiors of Finnish public buildings such as hotels, restaurants and banks.
