Lisa Johansson-Papé Slim Table Lamp Model 40-060 in Brass & Rattan, Orno 1950s

A beautiful and rare Mid-Century Modern table lamp by Lisa Johansson-Papé model 2060, later 40-060 for Orno. The lamp is quite slim and elegant featuring a dome shaped brass base with plastic wrapped stem topped with a rattan / wooden slatted shade of a later date. Light and easy to move around, the lamp is suitable as a bed side, reading, or ambience light.

The lamp is in its original condition with a beautiful patina. The shade is reupholstered from a later date. Stamped Orno to the base.

Lisa Johansson-Papé (1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lighting. She paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly. Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. She won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.
