Antti Hakkarainen Green Vine Floor Lamp, 1930s-1940s, Taidetakamo A. Hakkarainen

This particular lamp is of outstanding beauty, and could possibly be a unique piece. Story has it that it was designed for the wine room of one of Finland`s leading restaurants (Kaivohuone) back in the 1930-40`s. Looking at the details of the design might confirm this theory, although it is almost impossible for us to know nowadays.
This lamp stands out with it`s leaf and flower motifs and the beautiful greenish color. It is in absolutely original condition except for the wiring that has been changed at some point. The greenish color of the metal and yellowish color of the glass go hand in hand and suit each other perfectly.
This lamp would add a definite design statement to any interior be it private or public in nature.
Regarding the measurements of this lamp, the 27 cm width is at the top of the lamp were the glass is. The bottom part is about 38 cm wide. The bottom part of the lamp consists of 3 curved legs that are about 10 cm wider than the top, and that gives the lamp sturdiness and stability.

Antti Hakkarainen was a master metal worker and designer and his prominent company Taidetakomo A. Hakkarainen was one of the main competitors to Taito, later Idman and Orno, especially in domestic lighting although they did a few public projects. The company had a range of top Finnish designers working and commissioning lamps and other furniture there.
