Art Deco Paavo Tynell Pendant 1255 in Brass, Birch & Opaline Glass, Taito 1930s

4780,00 €

A beautiful and rare example of Paavo Tynell’s lighting from the 1930s, combining dark stained birch, polished and oxidized brass, and delicate blown glass shades. Its restrained design and warm materials give the lamp a calm, understated elegance.

The light beige glass shades are particularly beautiful when illuminated, revealing their subtle character and softly diffusing the light. The lamp retains its original surfaces, with a rich patina on the brass, which has been left unpolished. Stamped “Oy Taito Ab.” The wiring has been updated at some point.

Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was one of Finland’s most celebrated lighting designers and a co-founder of Taito Oy in 1918. His work ranges from the restrained forms of the 1930s to the decorative brass lighting that brought him international recognition through Finland House in New York.
