Bertel Gardberg, A Set of 5 Finnish ‘Doughnut’ Stools in Pine, Normark 1960s

10200,00

A set of 5 “sauna” stools designed by Bertel Gardberg in Finland in the 1950s. The stools are varnished pinewood and they have 4 parts: three legs and a round hollow seat with a hole in the middle. Simple, elegant and quite minimalistic. All pieces are in great condition with signs of wear and use consistent with age. The stools are very sturdy and sit firmly in place. Although they were mainly intended as sauna stools, they can be used in almost any room in the household. The design is also unusual and will stand out in any interior. As is evident from the pictures and video, no need for nails or screws here.

Bertel Gardberg (1919-2007) was a well renowned Finnish designer and a silversmith. His multiple recognitions include multiple Grand prizes at the Milano Triennales’, some prestigious Finnish honorary titles and number of other recognitions. In the 1950s Garberg acted as the head desginer for the Galeries Lafayette in Paris. Garberg was the master of form and function.
