Brutalist Decorative Bronze Bowl, Kaj Blomqvist, Finland 1970s

1920,00 €

A striking brutalist decorative bowl by Finnish designer Kaj Blomqvist, executed in solid cast bronze during the 1970s. Visually powerful, the bowl is characterised by its richly textured organic surface, highlighted by polished bronze accents that beautifully emphasize the sculptural landscape.

Standing on three integral feet, the bowl appears almost geological in form, as though carved directly from natural rock before being cast in bronze. The interplay between the dark oxidized patina and the warm polished high points creates exceptional depth while making every example unique.

Kaj Blomqvist’s bronze works have become recognised icons of Finnish Brutalist design. Combining sculptural expression with everyday functionality, his bowls are equally at home as decorative objects, vide-poches or simply as tactile works of art. The handcrafted casting process ensures that no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

Signed by the artist and presented in excellent vintage condition with a rich, even patina consistent with age.

At the moment, we have a larger one listed seperately, but the bowls pair exceptionally well together, offering a beautiful interplay of scale while sharing the same expressive sculptural character.
