A large and elegant Finnish flush mount ceiling light, model 1241, manufactured by Valinte in Finland in the 1950s. This piece is a prime example of mid-century Finnish design, where simplicity and function converge to create a timelessly elegant form. The lamp features a pleated synthetic shade diffuser framed with brass coils and a brass cup with a spring decoration in the style of Paavo Tynell.
This model exemplifies the exceptional lighting produced by the leading Finnish manufacturers of the period, a group that included Valinte, Itsu, Taito, Idman, and Orno. The lamp is stamped with the Valinte mark, confirming its authentic provenance. The lamp also has a height adjustable mechanism to make it fit seemlesly regardless of the hook size on the roof.
The lamp is in beautiful vintage condition and is offered in its completely original state. It has developed a gentle patina consistent with its age, and it is remarkably rare to find a fixture of this size and delicacy from the era that remains in this condition. Its plain yet sophisticated look allows it to blend effortlessly into any number of interiors, from Scandinavian modern to contemporary minimalist spaces. The item is fully functional and ready for use.
