An elegant Finnish Gustavian-style chest of drawers from the late 19th century, featuring finely reeded drawer fronts, a moulded rectangular top, and short tapered feet with carved detailing. Its balanced proportions and restrained decoration give the piece a quiet presence, complemented by a later off-white painted finish.
Two smaller upper drawers sit above two generous full-width drawers, providing practical storage within a clean, symmetrical composition. Angular metal drop handles introduce a subtle contrast to the pale surface, while the horizontal reeding adds texture and depth across the front.
The later paint shows visible wear, with underlying wood exposed along some edges and raised details. These variations, together with the aged patina of the handles, lend the chest a soft, lived-in character that complements its simple architectural form.
A versatile piece for a bedroom, entrance hall, or living room, offering useful storage and a generous surface for a table lamp, ceramics, or a mirror. Its understated appearance works beautifully in both traditional settings and contemporary interiors.
The professionally repainted finish is of a later date. Surface marks, small knocks, and wear are visible, consistent with the age and use of the chest. Please refer to the photographs for further condition details.
