Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a Swedish interior architect and furniture designer, best known for his elegant mid-century lighting. Born in Havdhem, Gotland, he trained as a cabinetmaker at 18 before studying architecture in Gothenburg. After working with design luminaries like Carl Malmsten, Jakobsson founded his eponymous lighting company in Markaryd, Småland, in 1951.

His workshop became renowned for its meticulously crafted brass and glass fixtures, celebrated for their warm, diffused light and thoughtful details. Signature designs like the chipboard lamps (produced under subsidiary Ellysett) and customizable chandeliers—supplied to churches and homes alike—were exported across Europe and beyond. Jakobsson believed every component, from the shade’s glow to the ceiling cup’s form, deserved a designer’s attention. His timeless pieces, often featuring handblown Småland glass, embody Scandinavian modernism at its most functional and poetic
