Laila Zink Decorative Ceramic Plate for Kupittaan Savi, Finland, 1950s

1590,00 €

A charming Finnish decorative ceramic plate by Laila Zink for Kupittaan Savi. The softly squared form with rounded corners frames a colourful garden scene featuring a seated woman holding flowers and a child in an orange toy car. Houses with patterned rooftops, slender trees, and birds perched on overhead wires complete the playful composition.

Expressive black outlines and shades of pink, orange, green, and blue give the decoration an engaging, storybook quality. A blue inner border and black triangular edging frame the scene against the pale glazed background, balancing the detailed illustration with a simple geometric surround.

A delightful piece of Finnish mid-century decorative ceramics, suitable for displaying individually or as part of a collection of wall plates. The plate is signed on the reverse and marked “Kupittaan Savi, Made in Finland,” with a hanging cord attached through two holes near the upper edge.

Kupittaan Savi Oy was a Finnish ceramic company founded in 1918 in Turku. While the factory originally focused on brick production, by the 1930s it began moving into ceramic art and tableware, and eventually became known for its high-quality handmade decorative items. Over the years, Kupittaan Savi gained a strong following both within Finland and internationally, and artists like Laila Zink played a significant role in shaping the company’s artistic identity and success.
