Lisa Johansson-Pape Pair of Brutalist Outdoor Wall Lamps Model 17-037

A pair of elegant wall mounted lamps model 17-037, designed by Lisa Johansson-Pape and manufactured by Orno Oy in Finland in the 1960s. Each lamp features a patinated copper/ metal base with an opaline glass shade.
They have kind of a cold and industrial impression, and would be perfect for a brutalist interior for example.

We have two different pairs of these same lamps for sale on our 1stDibs pages. One pair was kept indoors and the other one outdoors with both coming from the same household. Through years of sustaining a different environment each pair developed a completely different and unique patina. Please refer to pictures. Initially these are meant as waterproof outdoor lamps, but there is of course no reason why they cannot be used indoors. This pair was indoors in an entrance area.

Both lamps are in good condition, with nice vintage patinas. Both pieces are stamped by the manufacturer “Orno”.

Lisa Johansson-Papé (1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lighting. She paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly. Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. She won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.
