Modernist “Gingerbread” Pendant by Anna-Maija Salo, Yellow & White, Aris 1960s

900,00

A distinctive Finnish pendant lamp designed by Anna-Maija Salo and manufactured by Aris in the 1960s–70s. This model features a scalloped metal shade in white and yellow, creating a rhythmic, almost graphic expression that stands apart from more conventional modernist lighting of the period. Somehow resembling the gingerbread cutter. The cut and layered diffusers give the lamp a lively silhouette and produce a subtle play of light and shadow when illuminated, making it both functional and visually engaging.

The lamp is in original condition and shows noticeable wear consistent with age and use. There is visible paint loss across the surface, along with scratches, small marks, and a few isolated rust spots. These signs of wear are purely cosmetic and should be expected in an original example from this era, adding depth and character rather than detracting from the overall presence of the piece.

Anna-Maija Salo’s designs for Aris reflect a period of experimentation in Finnish lighting, where industrial materials and simple construction were combined with expressive forms. While her work remains relatively under-documented, lamps such as this demonstrate a confident design language rooted in clarity, functionality, and subtle playfulness.
