Paavo Tynell Sizable Ceiling Lamp from the Iconic Aulanko Hotel, Taito 1938

One of the few lamps Paavo Tynell designed and made for the cigar room in the famous Aulanko Hotel. These lamps along with the Märta Blomstedt “Aulanko Chair” were designed for the hotel and specifically for the cigar room. (See photo for the original Aulanko chair that we also have listed on our storefront). The big size coupled with easiness and the strikingly simple design makes this lamp a perfect fit for a spacious room. This lamp was made in two different sizes, this being the bigger size with a staggering 18 light bulbs.

It’s in good original condition except for two scratches shown in the pictures.
This lamp is of course a Paavo Tynell collector’s dream item. We are unable to say if any of the other lamps designed for the cigar room still exist or not, but according to the plans and photos from the original space, three of these big ones were made and two of the smaller ones.
