Pair of Alvar Aalto Hallway Armchairs Model 403 in Birch & Yellow, Artek 2008

A beautiful pair of Alvar Aalto model 403 hallway chairs, originally designed for the legendary Paimio Sanatorium, one of the masterpieces of 20th-century architecture. These examples were manufactured by Artek in 2008.

The chairs perfectly embody Aalto’s philosophy of combining beauty, function, and human comfort. Constructed from solid birch with a single gracefully bent birch plywood seat and backrest, they are remarkably lightweight despite their robust construction. Their stackable design makes them exceptionally practical for both residential and public interiors, allowing them to be moved and stored with ease.

Finished in a vibrant yellow colour, the chairs bring warmth and energy to an interior while maintaining the clean, understated lines that define Scandinavian Modernism.
