Pair of Minimalist Modernist Finnish Ceramic Table Lamps, Arabia 1950s

2640,00

A charming pair of 1950s ceramic table lamps by Arabia, Finland. Executed in a softly glazed white ceramic with brass fittings and their original white linen shades, the lamps embody the quiet confidence of Finnish and Nordic mid-century design. The silhouette is bijou and beautifully proportioned. A gently swelling teardrop form that narrows gracefully toward the neck before meeting the shade.

The shape feels organic yet restrained, a balance that defines much of Scandinavian modernism from that period. Their modest scale makes them exceptionally versatile: ideal as bedside lamps, or on a pair of floating shelves, in a window setting, or adding warmth to a hallway console.

They integrate effortlessly into minimalist interiors, where their sculptural purity can stand alone, but they also soften more eclectic settings with their calm, luminous presence. When lit, the original white linen shades diffuse the light into an intimate glow while the texture of the linen adds subtle depth, Both lamps are stamped Arabia on the underside, confirming their origin.

Founded in 1873, Arabia is Finland’s leading ceramic manufacturer and has played a defining role in shaping Nordic ceramic design throughout the 20th century. The company has collaborated with and fostered many of Finland’s most celebrated designers and artists, including Birger Kaipiainen, Kaj Franck, Rut Bryk, Ulla Procopé, Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist, Kaarina Aho, and Heikki Orvola, among others.

Arabia’s production has long been associated with clarity of form, functionality, and a deep respect for material – qualities clearly present in this pair. The lamps remain in very good original condition. The ceramic bases are well preserved, and the shades show normal wear consistent with age and use, which only adds to their authenticity and period character. A refined and timeless pair that demonstrates how simplicity, when executed with precision and care, becomes enduring.
