Rare Commissioned Paavo Tynell Perforated Brass Table Lamp, Taito Oy, 1950s

39600,00

An exceptionally rare commissioned table lamp by Paavo Tynell, combining elements from several known models with a unique perforated cone shade not found in standard production. Comparable examples appear in Tynell archive drawings for private commissions, including work for Architect Sirén in Otaniemi’s Teekarikylä and for Osuusliike Kajaani. The switch is integrated into the shade, leaving the brass stem and base elegantly minimal. The original white interior paint shows light craquelure, preserved for authenticity (repainting possible upon request). Wiring has been updated. Stamped Idman / Taito, dating the piece to the early 1950s.

Tynell (1890–1973), often called the man who “illuminated Finland,” was a pioneering figure in Finnish lighting design and co-founder of Taito Oy. His work features in major institutions such as the Finnish Parliament and the United Nations in New York, and today his rare and commissioned pieces are highly sought after worldwide.
