The same model with different perforations can be found in the Finland House lighting catalogue from the early 1950s.
This model lamp is quite rare since this is the only example we have seen during our 30 year career in the design world. The genious of the design lies in the fact that the lamp can be used either vertically or horizontally depending on the requirements of the area or space it`s in. The single dot perforations are also quite nice as the light luminates though the holes.
The patina is outstanding and completely original. We have chosen to not polish this lamp, even though some customers like the shinning look of polished brass. The buyer can always polish it at a later date if he so choses.
Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a Finnish designer who is well renowned around the world for his incredible lighting fixtures and lamps. Tynell is known as the man who “illuminated Finland” and his works can be found in numerous public offices and buildings such as the Finnish Parliament House and the office of Secretary-General of the United Nations in New York.
