A beautiful and delicately executed Finnish Mid-Century Modern flush mount ceiling light manufactured by Lasipaino Oy in the 1950s. The large shallow glass shade is rendered in a soft blush-pink tone and decorated with finely etched radial grooves that create a subtle sunburst effect, adding texture and visual depth both when illuminated and unlit. A patinated brass finial provides an elegant contrast to the delicate glass.
Equipped with three light sockets, the fixture offers generous, evenly diffused illumination, making it an excellent choice for living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, dining areas, or any space with lower ceilings where a pendant would not be practical. Its understated elegance allows it to integrate effortlessly into both mid-century modern interiors and more contemporary settings.
Founded in Rauma in 1948, Lasipaino Oy initially specialized in precision glass production, manufacturing watch crystals, ashtrays, and bent glass components for lighting. Following its relocation near Tampere in 1952, the company expanded into larger-scale industrial glass production, including architectural lighting, automotive windshields, and a wide range of high-quality lighting fixtures. Lasipaino became known for combining advanced glass manufacturing techniques with refined Scandinavian design, producing durable and elegantly crafted ceiling, wall, and floor lamps that remain highly sought after today.
The lamp is in good vintage condition with a beautiful original patina to the brass details.
