Pair of Mid-Century Brass Floral Wall Lamps 71020, Mauri Almari, Idman 1950s

4320,00

A rare pair of wall lamps by Finnish designer Mauri Almari, model 71032, in full brass with mouth-blown champagne glass shades. Manufactured by Idman in the 1950s, this model existed in a two-light version and this rarer variation with a single light each. The form is sculptural and delicate. The brass floral body and tulip-like shade have a poetic quality that immediately calls to mind the floral language and organic style seen in Paavo Tynell’s lamps of the period. These Almari pieces come from that same golden era of Finnish material romanticism — refined, warm metal craft meeting poetic natural forms. Perfect for ambience and soft atmospheric lighting. Ideal for entrances, framing wall artworks, living spaces, or as refined bedside lamps. The lamps have been fully restored (polished, lacquered and rewired) while retaining all original parts except for the renewed wall brackets. The glass shades are original. Fits E14 screw bulbs.

Mauri Almari (1907–1973) was a prominent Finnish lighting designer at Idman, working alongside Paavo Tynell, Gunnel Nyman and Maria Lindeman. After the acquisition of Taito, he — together with Lindeman — became the main lead for the design output of the factory, resulting in numerous important lamp models and an unmistakable visual identity within Finnish mid-century lighting design.
