Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a renowned Finnish designer celebrated for his exceptional lighting fixtures. His work can be found in notable public buildings like the Finnish Parliament and the United Nations headquarters in New York.

Tynell began as a sheet metal apprentice in 1906 and later co-founded Taito Oy in 1918, focusing on lamps after Finland adopted electricity. His distinctive style gained international recognition post-World War II, especially in the U.S., where his fixtures became highly sought after. Today, his high-end lamps fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars worldwide, and his legacy in Finnish design remains highly regarded.
