A beautiful early example of a chandelier by Paavo Tynell from the 1940s. This elegant piece features a lacquered birch central disc and column with fine brass ornamentation, complemented by oxidized brass arms and original silk-wrapped suspension. The chandelier is fitted with delicate blown glass shades in a soft light beige tone, which diffuse a warm and inviting glow. The silk string remains remarkably well preserved, adding to the lamp’s authenticity and tactile appeal.

The piece is in original condition. While not stamped, it displays all the distinctive construction details and components characteristic of Tynell’s work and belongs to the 1200 series.

Paavo Tynell (1890–1973) was a pioneering Finnish lighting designer often referred to as the man who “illuminated Finland.” As a co-founder of Taito Oy, he played a key role in shaping early Scandinavian lighting design. His work combines refined craftsmanship with warm, atmospheric materials, and remains highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
