An impressive oversized solid brass door pull manufactured in Finland during the 1950s, originating from the Vanha Mestari restaurant in Helsinki. Constructed entirely from heavy solid brass, the pull is both highly functional and sculptural, reflecting the refined industrial aesthetic that characterized Finnish commercial architecture during the mid-century era.
Its generous scale and three parallel tubular brass bars create a bold architectural statement while maintaining the restrained elegance of Scandinavian modern design. Originally mounted on one of the restaurant’s doors, the pull has developed a beautiful warm patina through decades of use, giving it an authenticity that cannot be replicated.
Ideal for a substantial entrance door, restaurant, wine cellar, or bespoke architectural project, it can equally serve as a decorative design object celebrating the craftsmanship of Finnish brass work from the period. The brass may be left with its rich original patina or polished according to the new owner’s preference. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
The pull remains in very good vintage condition with honest wear consistent with age and use.
A smaller matching version from the same restaurant is also available and listed separately on 1stDibs. Please see last photo.
