A rare Itsu floor lamp, model EN 40, distinguished by its striking X-shaped brass frame. Featured in the 1962 Itsu catalogue, this sculptural lamp balances elegance and function with its heavy black-painted metal base, two intersecting brass legs, and a matching black mid-bridge that ties the structure together.
The current wood-slatted shades are newly made according to the original model, offering a soft, ambient glow that complements the lamp’s graphic geometry. They add warmth and an organic counterpoint to the brass and metal construction. The lamp is stamped to the bottom. A highly functional yet unmistakably sculptural piece, suited to almost any setting—from living rooms and bedrooms to studios and offices.
It brings a presence without overwhelming the space. During the mid-20th century, Itsu was among Finland’s leading lighting manufacturers and operated as a daughter company of Idman. Their lamps were known for exceptional quality and were used in major architectural projects, including several designed by Alvar Aalto, such as installations for Aalto University.
