A pair of large, commissioned, and extremely rare Seashell wall lamps, designed by Paavo Tynell and manufactured by Taito in Finland in the early 1950s. Each lamp features a lightbase behind the shell shaped shade with an adjustable brass stem. The measurements in the listing are per 1 lamp. These lamps are designed with the same approach as the iconic seashell table lamps. And the parts are largely made with the same tecnique, except that these have much larger shades than the table lamp shell version. Hence suitable for large rooms and living spaces in need of light ambiance. Please note that these lamps can be considered art pieces and wall sculptures, even with the lights off. A pleasing organic feature adding a lot to any interior. Also perfect for cottages for their organic rustic feel.
Both lamps are in good vintage condition. The surface has scratches consistent with age, but are in their original condition. The lamps can be polished upon request. We chose to leave these lamps as is, with the original patina intact. Both lamps are stamped Taito.
