Nicknamed “gingerbread” because of the wavy rim on its brass shade, this stunning piece was designed by Gunnel Nyman in the 1940s for Idman. the lamp is adjustable on three axes and features a telescopic arm and two wall supports, allowing it to extend up to nearly a meter in depth.
the lamp has been polished due to heavy patina, and the silk diffuser has been reupholstered. the electrical wiring has been replaced. it is a stamped version. Please note that we have two of these lamps. The other one, pictured next to this one above, is unpolished. Both are available at the moment.
Gunnel Nyman (1909–1948) was a Finnish glass, furniture, and metal artist, and one of the founders of modern finnish glass design. she was also a prominent figure in the Finnish modern design movement of the early 20th century. unfortunately, due to her premature death at 39, she left behind a legacy of numerous beautiful objects and a sense of wonder about what she might have created with a longer career.
