A striking vintage Paul Evans style oval wall mirror, most probably Finnish, dating from the 1950s-1960s. The hand-forged wrought iron frame features a rhythmic border of angular, hourglass-shaped ornaments, complemented by twisted iron rods surrounding the glass. The textured metalwork and dark patina give the mirror a strong sculptural presence and a distinctive Brutalist character.
The open frame allows the wall to show through, balancing the visual weight of the iron with a sense of lightness. Irregular surface details enhance its handcrafted appeal, while the smooth oval glass provides a beautiful contrast to the rugged surround.
Equipped with hanging points for both vertical and horizontal placement, the mirror offers versatility above a console, sideboard, or bedroom dresser, or as a decorative focal point in an entrance hall.
In good vintage condition, with wear and patina consistent with age and use. The backing panel shows more pronounced wear, including staining and areas of surface loss, which are concealed when the mirror is hung.
