Lisa Johansson-Papé Table Lamp 46-186 in Leather and Linen, Orno 1950s

1960,00

Rare and special Lisa Johansson-Pape table lamp model 46-186 designed for the University of Helsinki. This lamp is much harder to come by than some of the other Pape models and certainly stands out. The lamp consists of a wooden base covered in brown leather with a brass shaft attached on the top. This particular item comes with the original fabric shade, but in this model many different shades can be used. A visible harmony between different materials in the shape of a lamp is something nice and distinctive to have in your home. Especially when it’s manufactured by professionals and designed by a genius. Both the shade and stem have beautiful vintage patina that is harmoniuos with age and use. The measurements are with the shade included, so the 25 cm width would be of the lower part of the shade and the 65 height would be to the top of the shade.

Lisa Johansson-Pape (1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lightings. she paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly.

Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. She won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.

The `Senator` lamps for example became very popular in Finland with many different variations of stems, materials and shades. We also have a couple of them on offer on 1stdibs.
